Russian American actress Olesya Rulin has made a name for herself playing in family movies, such as Disney's three "High School Musical" films. She said a family is like a "kaleidoscope." Although there are many different colors and shades in any individual family, however they turn they are beautiful when they are put together. Being in "High School Musical" might seem appropriate for a trained ballet dancer and model.
"High School Musical" was the most successful movie the Disney Channel ever produced. The television sequel, "High School Musical 2," and the feature movie, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year " were after that. Olesya Rulin was in all three movies. The movie featured two high school juniors from rival cliques who both tried out for the local high school musical. Some compared it to a modern-day "Romeo and Juliet."
Besides the three Disney movies, Olesya Rulin stared in a different kind of family movie, "Family Weekend." In it her character was the jump roping champion of her school who was praised by her peers for her accomplishments but ignored by her parents. She even finds she has no fans at one event. She has the help of her family and friends to bring the family together and keep them hostage until they realize everyone is important, and she wins second place.
The 27-year-old also played in other Disney movies including "Hounded," "The Poof Point" and "Halloweentown." She was in a variety of other movies and television shows including "Everwood," "Touched by an Angel" and "CSI: Miami. Olesya Rulin may have made a name for herself in family movies, but she has played a variety of other types of roles too, including playing in the movie, “Vampire Chicks with Chainsaws."
