For the past couple of days and over the next few days, we are bringing you a top 10 list of video games that are being made into movies. Last time out, we brought you news about the Mortal Kombat movie reboot, which was at number nine on the list, so today brings us to number seven.
Today we take a look at the plans to adapter the game Splinter Cell into a movie. It was confirmed last year that the Splinter Cell movie was moving forward, with the screenplay being written by Eric Singer, whose previous work included The International.
Since then, it has also been confirmed that The Dark Knight Rises actor Tom Hardy will star in the Splinter Cell movie as Sam Fisher, a covert operative assigned to a top-secret National Security Agency branch called the Third Echelon. Meanwhile, Basil Iwanyk has joined the project as a producer.
Splinter Cell is now in active development, with the script still being worked on at the moment. There is no official word of when production will begin on Splinter Cell or when the movie will be released but it is good to know that the film is happening.
